their is a probiotic called primalac terry i find it a excellent product but i think their is only one agent in Britain who sells it (dave Hawkins) ...made in the usa for the poultry industry ,some don't think a probiotic works but i think seeing is believing and by the results of my droppings tests, and health of the birds it works for me atb

My stock birds when I had them got a turf of soil/ grass every few days. Now down to what flies out here so no stock birds. Day or so may let them out. Depends on the raptor population passing through. Hundreds of swans coming through heading North. Wait and see situation but when the birds are out they go down in the fields. They pick up whatever they are lacking. Snowing here right now, but the birds adjust. |

Used meds for years. Easy access to them, though not pigeon specific. Had a 1000 sow operation used to manage here. Hog prices went down owner took the government buyout for this particular operation. Many did. He still has another operation going. Organic pigs. Price then was about 45 cents a pound. Last few months price has jumped to $240 a 100 kilos. PEDS virus in the US wiped out a heck of a lot of babies. Now here in Canada. Anyway, soil. Be careful were you get it from. I use the lawn, about an acre. The fields get sprayed etc so do not take that risk. Spray time keep the birds in. Or limited flying. Had the dogs out last year just after the soy beans were sprayed for aphids. Not enough ladybugs around to look after the aphids. Dogs suffered for weeks with skin problems. 1000 acres here property ends at Lake Erie. Thought it was mites on the dogs etc but no. I brushed them with Stable Boy, diatomiceous earth. Use it for floor dressing all the time. No fleas ticks whatever. Was the spray.

the diatoms is good gear but I only ever put a sprinkle under the nest felt as it contains a lot of silica which can cause severe chest complaints ...yeah your right your thoughts of pesticides and weed killers and the like some lethal stuff about ...ya just never know what your neighbours could be spraying about.alot of weed killers (herbicides)contain dimethylamine salt which is very dangerous to pets atb

Diatoms food grade is safe for babies. Extremely fine ground. The regular stuff comes from a different source and is dangerous to health. It is used in animal feeds to kill worms. Very abrasive, need a mask to use it safely. Anyway, Have some Coopers here little out of date. Home brew from Aussie. Malted barley and hops. sealed can. Thinking of trying some on the birds. will not ferment without yeast and sugar. Hot water to thin it out..who knows?

http://diatomaceousearthsource.org/ it works for the birds as it did for new born pigs when sprinkled with it. Pigeons not sprinkled just a floor dressing. Gets rid of ammonia, most bacteria's etc,. Non-allergenic non-toxic. Usually used for horses to eliminate odour in the bedding. Was on another site and the vet on their said it was dangerous. Old guy like me but was still in the mind set of many years ago. But each to their own.
