I personally would fly them. Years ago, after moving, my 600 miler race point was 720. I sent 4 yearlings. They came late 2nd day out of the prizes but went on in later years to do well. Again, if the weather is going to be tough, keep them home. If reasonable weather send them. JMO. http://www.pigeoninflight.com/index.php/miracle-pigeons

for me yes if birds are well and are motivated well a yearling breed for the job should do well at 400 miles and unlike some older stagers i find yearlings will continue on later in the day when some older bird go down because yearling dont know any better

we raced messac 2 weeks ago with the WOESRC and it was a very hard race and we only fly 227 miles i got 4 out of my 5 but they were 100s of birds missing on the day . we,ve come to the conculsion that its where messac is thats the problem its in a westerly position so if you get a easterly wind then your in trouble cos it will push them over to the cornish coastline then they dog leg back up the west country making it double the dsistance for you in manchester you would need a south wind or a north wnd . good luck we have a new race point in france this week norte-sur-endre about 260 to miles to me .
