I would say it has to be a throw back you may be right don, the hens parents were both blue bars, but the cocks parents were bred by ian, and im sure the father of this cock was a dark chequer pied....... |

The genetics experts say it is not possible to get a Cheq from 2x blue bars unless you have a new Mutation on your hands so if you are sure that these 2 birds are the parents of the Chequer then it is a mutation. Nothing is impossible, lol. I have some almost white pigeons and the pair breed Whites with black slash , Whites with Red splash, Reds, Grizzles, Blue bars with pied flights Blue Chequers, beacuse all these colours are in the Family. |

| im afraid the "genetic experts " are wrong then, I have two blue bars which have definitely bred a light chequer, and I will post a photo on site shortly....
ive waited for someone to suggest the hen might have been tread by a ch cock in the same section, but no one has suggested it, as it happens there are only blue bar cocks in the section, and a red ch and mealy hen......that's it no chequer cocks.
plus these pigeons havnt flown out of the loft for two years.........
as you say spencerline, nothings impossible is it.... |
