i have said this many times i feel it is a must to race your youngbirds as they are better for it the following year

well a few flyers by me only race to 180-200 mile then stop .... then they keep a few on darkie for last few races .... and was saying to me to try it for me first year just try raceing first 3 races then stop raceing ...

its up to you phil i would get them as far down the road as possible stop them when they get down to last four flights

Phil all the top flyers race there youngbirds in the first few races then stop them

Doing this allows the birds to develop and mature well, without flying the guts out of them

your talking bull many top flyers in the north east race all the way to national race dont let any body tell you otherwise phil

Ian i am only saying want the top fanciers do in this area

So everyone to there own, but it is up to the fancier at the end of the day

this is what they used to do not now things change i bet 9 out of 10 members on here race nearly all the races , the last race is the one you want to win theNATIONAL WHO DOESNT WANT TO FLY THIS

our longest y/b race is 528 mile breeds that race 600+ mine will be flying full programme, breeds that fly upto 500 will be stopping them at 300 to save for yearling racing, breeding about 50 to race to 300 30 to race full programme

i want plenty of this years y/bs left to race as yearlings next year, as i havent any o/bs to race, thats reason im stopping some this year, trying out this going for kill next

Ian if you want to win a national race i can tell you the top flyers will not be sending pigeons which have raced every week up to the national

If you look the pigeons they send will be freasher than yours more than likely have had 4 max races with plenty of training, so when the national race comes around the pigeons are ready for it

Everyone to there own mate, but if you want to win with old birds you have to select and stop young birds, which show promise, and race out the others

Ian look at it this way they are young for one year and old for the rest of there life

Youngbird races is like going 12 rounds in a boxing ring every week, say up to the national 8 or 9 times 12 rounds

If it was me i would like my youngbirds to have 2 to 3 max 12 rounds with plenty of 3 to 4 rounds tosses so when it comes to the national they are much freasher and give it all there best shot on that day

for one don its nothing like boxing i gave my opinion on what people do now not years ago i like to move with the times to keep up
