PostSubject: Polystyrene sheets    Polystyrene sheets EmptySun Dec 13, 2015 7:15 pm

Hi lads just ordered some polystyrene sheets to line the inside of my lofts ,especially for my cock section they like a good hoour lol I'm hoping it will sound proof the lofts a little for the new neighbours and also insulate to keep the loft from having massive temperature differences, would like to know what the members think thx in advance its 10 mill thick will still have good ventilation

hi ric...I did my loft with 25mil insulate polystyrene sheets from b&q they are black in colour ....I put them in-between the supporting timbers then covered with 12 mil plywood but never did the ceiling and also use deep litter on the floor so never did the floor either and that loft is bone dry and keeps a good temp and will be doing my other loft in the summer as for soundproof i cant really say i have noticed a difference atb

Maybe 2 differant things etc Don "Plaster board" but no way would this little duck Smile Smile down here ever use it in a loft. Have seen it used in a loft (new) & 12 months down the track it was a mess. Just not tough enough to last the distance sadly. cheers

Rick you don't have to use polystyrene in between the joists just line the loft with plasterboard and don't place them direct to the floor leave them at least 6-8 inches of the floor

It will also help sound proof the loft

while ago now but when we had a big refurb at work I got loads of old ceiling tiles about 2ft square. I lined the ceiling with these just stuck on with tubes of pink grip.
