| THE BIG 400 Lac Lecoutre, Quebec Shipping Date: Friday October 6, 2017 Race Date: Sunday October 8, 2017 A group of fanciers has put together an idea to have a Young Bird Race that really tests our pigeons in the year of birth from approximately 400 miles, hence our name! This is a race unlike seen before. Many Young Bird opens at the end of the year have a shipping cost that is expensive, of course because they have to come up with prize money. Not this one!! This will be an inexpensive race, with the sole purpose being testing our pigeons from a 400 mile race for a low cost. It has been planned for after all scheduled Combine races, and open races are done, not to interfere with any existing schedules! Cost: $5 per pigeon, up to 20 pigeons. After 20 pigeons, shipping is free for any extra birds. Payable night of shipping, CASH ONLY!!!**** We have trophies donated for the Overall Winner, for 3 Bird Average Speed, and for 5 bird average speed. Your birds for the average speed must be shipped in your first 20 pigeons. There will be shipping locations all across Ontario, starting in Guelph, and working our way east to Flamborough, Mississauga, Oshawa, and then coming to Queensville to have the last pick up. There will also be a shipping location in Ottawa, and then those birds transported to Oshawa to meet the trailer. We hope to attract fanciers from Montreal at the Ottawa shipping location as well. From Queensville the trailer will leave first thing Saturday morning, arriving in Lac Lecoutre on Saturday, and the birds will have all night Saturday to settle before the big release! Since there is no prize money, we will not have a central strike off. Strike offs can be done at any club house and emailed to the Race Secretary: robrotiroti@hotmail.comSample distances for this new station are: Guelph at 696 km, Barrie at 611 km, Port Perry at 620 km, Brighton at 647 km, Winchester at 602 km and Montreal at 634 km. | This sounds like a great idea Hal - I wish I could enter some of my birds.
Over here in frogland, we have two races of around 300 miles for young birds, but it is run in such a way that yearlings can enter as well. I don't know if that would make any difference.
I wish you all the very best. Please keep us all informed as things progress.

| Will see how logistics work out. Hoping to send 10 . Nearest shipping point 2 hour drive away. 3 years ago had a bad hawk attack. Young birds scattered. One ended up in Montreal. 500 miles away. Guy got it back to health and 3 weeks later it flew back to the loft. Took just over a day. Two weeks later shipped it by mistake to a 250 miler. {meant to send its nest mate). Never seen it again, regrettably.
