yes and if you use them as breeders you will been racing ybs the year after off untried pigeons , me personally i would have a big team of ybs next year and start afresh if your not going to race them as 2 year olds in may/june but that is what i would do not trying to tell you what to do david

start afresh with young birds, your old birds i think will not beat experienced pigeons, you might be lucky by getting the odd position so if you have nothing to lose try it you might do like darren did

P.M.S.L. yes good advise ray. i think the easiest way would be for me to have a reduction of all my old birds after i have bred a team of ybs from them, as whatever i have left from racing ybs will become my old birds team for the year after....making me greatly over stocked.

you have to wait until you race youngbirds to see if they score then you know which of the old birds you want to keep for stock

yes, thats true ian.....but altho i will be overstocked do you think one yb season will be enought to decide if the parents are any good ? maybe the ybs might come better as yearlings and id have got rid of the parents ? cant win can i.........

yes thats it, youre right.....cant keep them all. i think its just got to be done and get rid of a few, id rather keep a small team of good birds than a loft full of ones im still testing.....

would most likely happen that way don, ive only got three pairs of stock birds so they arent going anywhere for a while untill i test the ybs fron them properly.....and then ive six pairs of yearling and two year olds, so thats 12 birds that have never raced or been trained, what do i do tho....when ive finished the 2010 yb season ill have ybs left over hopefully so ill be overun....stuck between being overcrowded or getting rid of something i shouldnt and making a mistake...
