think anything which helps protect our birds whilst exercising is worth a try, every day i have my ybs out and constantly watching for hawks...........hope i dont get an attack this year like i did last year as at the moment the ybs are nice and relaxed and settled.

coping with a cat problem is bad enough martyn, but at least something can be done about them to an extent....... but the hawk/bop is another matter, we are virtually powerless to protect our birds...... it sickens you off sometimes...................

I can assure you we are sorting some out, its the ones around the loft we are just about coping with, If any bird has a night out its dead by morning just recently I let a yearling out about 5 cause some youngsters were on a farm roof and I wanted them to fly back to the loft, it was the first time they had been out. Thing is the youngsters came in and were ok, the yearling was on the roof, I went to feed the youngsters and lock up when I got back thought the yearlin had gone in, but never saw it again. Its the perigrines when we train that we are powerless to stop, no sooner you let them out percy has smashed them, last year I was releasing my youngsters 4 at a time and staggered the libs up the road for 12 miles, otherwise flocks get smashed, when they are in small groups some pass unnoitced, imagine how long it takes me with 60 birds, and I take another lads birds as well thats 120 to liberate 4 at a time.
