Would you keep a pigeon just to even up the numbers of cocks and hens even if it was a complete dud? You hear plenty of advice about getting rid of the no hopers, no room for rubbish and everything having to earn it's perch etc etc but if you were a few short of even pairs would you make an exception? Just wondering

I don't mind a spare hen or 2 but cocks need a box and limited myself to 12 boxes for race cocks if i cant do well with 12 theres something wrong we raced 8 cocks last year but no hens I now have a dilemma as have plenty race hens probably 6 too many as they raced very well so will have to pair these to stock cocks and race both cocks and hens on widow luckily I have 8 stock cocks this year as oppose to 6 last year so they can fill that gap it means splitting stock early as possible and no kits going out next year only one loft babies will be leaving here next yr atb

Yes Barnie. Pigeons get lost in races so odd hen or cock comes in handy. My no hopers are gone. But some made it back. Have the room, they can stay.
