It s hard to understand with all the good will and help available to both existing and the (hopefully) new members why our sport is not flourishing.

Despite all the virtual reality available once you come into close contact with our feathered friends one cannot help but be enamoured by their abilities.

I think too much emphasis has been placed on matters that are in the main beneficial to the money boys and the grass root fanciers needs ignored.

I think it is time the grass root fanciers took an interest in how the spot is conducted before it is too late.

Regards.

i think if a pigeon is offered free, people tend to think they are rubbish, and only pigeons with a high price tag are any good .......its not always the case, many a free bird has bred or raced well .

I agree David.

Would be very interesting to calculate the number of pigeons bred by studs every year and any useful pigeons being bred and the same from small back garden lofts.

Then from gift birds and exchanges along with strays.

Bet it would be a real eye opener or the studs would have been out of the sport within a couple of years, if a reasonable number of winners and breeders of winners
were bred for a couple of years.

Once you have commercialism you have problems.

Regards.

Daz that's a fantastic offer, and yes if you asked £100 they would be gone now

Mine, culls, used to go for meat to a Portugese flier. Then he bred off a couple. They won for him. Others heard about this os no problem giving them away. As you may know, recently got rid of about a 100. Pointed out the useless ones to the guy. He was happy with them.

Was a fancier of long standing. Was around pigeons for over 80 years in the end. Only had one winner incidentally, and that was the Pinnacle Lerwick race and got the 'Gold Cup, four years before he died … We all were so very pleased for him ( Mind a knowledgeable lad went and helped him believe it or not and he ….
Well from his 20's onwards very member took their culls to him for his soups and pies.
