Pairing Up 2020

when are members pairing up, soon be december , so not that long to go really ........couple of months maybe ???

hopefully i`ll have my birds settled in the new loft ready for the breeding season .

late January here for one lofters and race team ,going to be taking some off the racers this yr will select a few pair and let them all single rear off the selected pairs

will you be putting ybs on darkness this time darren, or staying on natural like last year ...

probably darken this yr david as we want to have a go at the yb amalgamation race from Berwick 300 miles we toyed with the idea last year but we were still building the team ,now the team is at full strength we can afford to push on in the Berwick yb race but will need darkies for it ,we can also push on in the Scottish old bird races to ...should be a interesting season ahead

i usually pair around the first saturday in feb, i hope im ready in time .....

Might try some earlier this year in January but normally February

Looking good Hal . What I have left here are all separated as such. Hens still laying thou as per normal here for this time of the year etc. Not all bad thou I suggest as when the rabble finally arrive by boat down here, my missus will serve them all a special type treat now to mark the occasion       .

scrambled or poached for me please oz with a sprimkle of grated cheddar if that's not too much to ask after porridge for the

hal i really like the vos feather leg …birds look well ,we will pair end of january …one guy in our club paired a week ago certainly not for me its a waiste of time and money …ybs get lazy and into bad habits and are ruined ,all ok if you are willing to start training them during old bird season then of course you could have severe weather to contend with just loft flying...old birds would have barely finished the moult to ...the sparrow hawk will be ravenous at the time of year the ybs will be out to ,ok she is about at other times but febuary march and early april she is very active before going to nest ,na to many negatives here for very early breeding

It takes all sorts and you certainly have them.

Always kept to nature myself and let the pigeons decide, but obviously did not always agree with them but results speak louder than words.

Thanks for the comments folks. All the birds are bred from Tmak reds. Except the whites. They are from an American stray. Have some with feathered legs. All have flown well. Why they are stock birds. Open loft weather permitting. Pic of a favourite racer.

Sorry O/S No 5 star accommodation/meals down here for boat folk as such when they land etc I'm so forget the grated cheddar & besides electricity & gas, costs an absolute fortune here to use & so it's just the crack & swallow scenario on your menu I'm just like I've seen my Geordie mate do at times when down the club on basket night when he has been some what hungry & found eggs in the baskets.

Depends on the pigeon. Colour strain not really important. Health next then management.

That just carn't be true etc Hal I suggest. Never seen that on a bottle with a pigeon on it as such .
