The man to beat here, when I first joined the senior club had the Gurneys etc  bounce  bounce lovely pigeons & good on their day up to 500 miles back then. Also had a lovely family of dark checker types called the Bastin's (American) which were also good when given the right conditions. Dairy farmer he was (tough as nails) & the club rooms was on his property. Also had trotters & one day I was there & the vet called to geld one of his horses on site. One injection Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes & in a nano second it was flat out cold on the ground & he had his knife in motion as such Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes. Other funny thing I still remember, is drinking milk from the pale straight off the factory line there  Smile  Smile no resemblance at all to the rubbish one buys these days in a supermarket as such  Smile  Smile.  cheers

True Misty... Throughout time, for it must certainly a fact that Julius Caesar, and even the Pharaoh's had better pigeons. Miles upon miles away when fighting ward, yet these pigeons flew from any where will, obviously great results and consistency.
Maybe a it was a compulsive natural mating's - as when returned many would not join up again.

Yes maybe the boomerang system was in good use.

Oh to be so lucky etc Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Wink WinkSmile Smile. Now bounce bounce bit dead here I suggest Smile Smile not much happening in a local sense, maybe Wink Wink. So lol! lol! lol! just my bit for the cause here bounce bounce I will tell a tale about the Gurney man. Hard 2 day 500 mile race, young kid living the dream still pushing a bike got 4th club in it (magic he thought) 1 from 4 home. But having a curious mind/nature he asked the Gurney man how many he had home in the same race Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad at pull over, 30 odd at last count he said Smile Smile taught me a lesson, in a pigeon sense bounce bounce if you ask a question/query, never be surprised what the answer may just be at times Very Happy Very Happy. Now Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes move forward 60 odd years & we now have better birds/transport/medication/feed/knowledge & training type methods on average & one would be lucky/fortunate to get 30 home from 500 odd miles with a blow home etc on the day, let alone a hard 2 day type event as such down here  Smile  Smile. cheers
