Totally agree with that . We are too soft nowadays. Kids don't get dirty now maybe it would have helped with this covid sh**e . We are as weak as piss

Couldn't agree more etc Ray Kids wrapped in cotton wool these days & many parents try to hide them from real life & it's many ups & downs type of thing. End scenario they are going the same way the pigeon sport is on average I suggest, unfortunately .

Yes that was my point . Pigeons exactly the same , pump antibiotics into them and all is fine fir now . Then next week they pick up something else. When I come in from the garden and if my hands are dirty you should here my sons , you think I was carrying a disease lol.

The poor immune system in some pigeons is not only caused by over medication.
It is largely due to people breeding off strain named birds and selling them as the strain. No matter off poor perfomers or not. Dordins were good at one time. Des-Mathys and many others. Many of the older fanciers bred off not too many birds usually. Their best. People bought them and bred off them idiscrimiantely. Watered down versions of the originals. And so on. I have won with Van Loons. From Ganus loft as I assume he would get them from the source. Tmaks reds came from basically the source. Jules Gallez. Still here. Crossed? Few of them then back to the reds. Keep them close. Other way is to buy kits in good numbers from a few selected sources and race them all. Best will rise to the top.

I think a lot has to do with not keeping birds long enough.  You haven't got time to let their own immune system sort them out . You only race them 2 years max if they are lucky . So thats why they get all this crap pumped into them . We give them stuff every week now nearly where as before hardly anything.
