Making a meal. Empty
PostSubject: Making a meal.   Making a meal. EmptyWed Mar 17, 2021 3:00 pm

Just done - over the last two days ... over night marinating making  sausages and burgers.
Leg of pork at Morrisons £2 : 50 a kilo. With seasoning and cream crackers, and water added etc. worked out about £1 10 a pound. Using the best. made 40lb.

Bought the best brisket at £6 a kilo. With water and seasoning worked out 30lb for £28. Did two different sorts. Now just under a £ for a lb. 1/4 at 23p. Far far better than one buys on both accounts.
Used to get on well with the butchers at morrisons. All have moved on now. they made for the store also... but preferred mine by a long chalk.

Went into  Sainsburys on holiday once. Saw packets of sausages reduce to half price £4 :38p.
Joyce said similar to what  you make. like wise at Melton Market. Sausage rolls... sausages were pretty good. A ROLL WAS OVER £3!
But doubt if I have much left soon, after son's daughters etc. have a share.
then mates, Garage is good to me, so packets of sausage / burgers says Thanks.
James looked after my gear well when working... so him and his family appreciate a sausage or burger etc. Where I get the carpets from, as no longer trade, I get more than a good price from Carpet retailers... love my home made stuff lol.
Plus mates etc. So probably won't last long lol. But then I really do enjoy making
it. Likewise the Cakes and Tarts and pies etc.

Now - of course any and every thing from a pig is 'Pork'! Ground bones, grizzle, sewage etc. In it goes.
used to be, Whole shoulder with 'Fat end' to make sausages. then Pork belly, which I use - for the fat. Any prime Pork will do, providing on price.

Lol not at all.

Mind I made a mistake regards cost. Had nearly £14 worth of brisket in fridge from night before. So in real terms that elevated the cost 50%.
Mind still far, far, better than any bought.
