Pouring rain yesterday. Untrained white young bird came back. From well over 50 miles. Short tosses? I oft times wonder if they just do it to conserve birds? Short toss here years ago birds here birds would fly over, come back hour later.

I call it here Hal Guilding the lily type of thing avoid the inevitable as long as one can as such so the faithful come back again the following year for more of the same etc. Be interesting thou I suggest when the numbers do finely come out so to speak to just compare in some ways with last years early casualties there before they went into a basket to start training mode. Now have a local yard stick to judge by here now (1200 odd birds) in a O/L race sense. By all accounts they lost around 150/180 by my reckoning around the roof & with the decease factor, before the start of training there & around 50/80 odd so far, after about 6/7 tosses up to around 50 miles.
