2022 Rings ....

your just becoming a typical Aussie chook farmer type there now etc David I'm   Still Boris & his like will be happy I suspect with you helping them now to balance there budget with your extra donations from your expansion plans .

i got 8 sacks of corn saturday knackered, plus i already had 6 at home, so i should be ok for over christmas and new year .........

you may just need more maybe David if you loose your power etc or you get snowed in there till Xmas. End of the day if you don't sell your next lot of champs you can always eat them type of thing    .

I ordered 150 but I just wanted to make sure I didn't run out like this year's 100 did.

You must have hearts like lions, I had all on keeping an an eye on 24 a year.

Different times & perhaps Misty     a different type world etc to how Mike has found himself now racing pigeons in his local area. Now           as far as our David     he has reached the supreme heights now     without a doubt     of being a chook farmer type     Aussie style, I could maybe perhaps suggest     End of the day thou & truth be told     I was a 130 rings a year type man. With it, over many years       I built up a reputation of sorts     so much so, my Fed changed the rules     to stop me using the same ring in certain ways, over & over & over & over again type of thing     in the recycling type process when racing.

Wise move that I suggest Mike your learning, after the fiasco you had recently there unfortunately with your ring issue or lack of etc Now as pretty as your little pied is along with your chocolate pied's there. If being quite honest here, in my view best maybe not to fill your loft up there now with those types I suggest, if looking into the future & in a general distance sense. As history says on average & as nice as they may be   few of those types actually cut the mustard when required to do a a hard days type work at the office to get home on the day or even the day after scenario when talking in a general distance type talk mode  .

How many pairs have you got David and when will you start breeding ?.

roughly around 30 - 32 pairs misty, and looking to pair up end december / beginning of january, depending on the weather .........

Reasonable number, about the same as the number of racers and stock I ever kept at any one time.

Also to me breeding was always one of the  most enjoyable parts of the sport.

Attempting to guess the colour of certain pairings, eyes etc; 

Just hope everything pans out well, this other virus thing does not look as bad as first thought, fingers crossed.

hoping for 2 rounds off each pair roughly misty, plus maybe a single reared of certain pairs ....... dont want to over breed off them really, no point breeding them into the ground, so to speak.

yes i read the report by the woman doctor who noticed this recent variant in south africa, she says it has been blown out of all proportion, especially by the uk government .

I am hoping to streamline my breeding and sell off all the extra this summer. I really don't want as many as I have but needed to try out many to see what would do best for me. It's easy to get overrun and I have learned my lesson. What is a good size flock to train most effectively?

for me mike, anything over 25 young birds it too many, i find it hard to have control over them regards trapping when exercising etc ........then again more experienced fanciers would be able to cope with more birds.

when you consider the rpra one loft houses 1,500 young birds at the start of the season, it makes me wonder how on earth they manage that amount .

How many that's like asking how many roads to Rome etc Mike Could suggest, just enquire how many rings your club sells there on a yearly type basis, average it out per flyer & if it fits in your budget factor it could be roughly the number required to get through a season there for you racing in a local type sense.
