A willing horse friendsloft. Same applied to me but I realy enjoyed it and was in a position to ensure fair play, never allowed any hanky panky. Regards. |

| I found, after holding a few positions in the pigeon club. When I was president, I enforced the Corridor Politicians, who make views but never lifted a vote or a Finger to help, that if they didn't help on Basketing nights, then their' birds, wouldn't be sent! Because we wouldn't mark them up as such. They laughed and thought it was a joke! Next week was the same. There they were propping up the bar and tables, putting the world, and us workers to rights. We went in, and one or two asked 'All done then', Being replied with as such 'Yes'. With 15- 20 minutes before the transporter was due, I mentioned that those birds still in the basket wouldn't be marked in time, and would the owner take note to take them back with them as not suitable to leave them there. Gosh! Many questions were asked as they began to move. Real peeved were they. So one or two of us made sure all was above board and correct when THEY did the chores between themselves. My 'Positions', needless to say, were filled every AGM onwards. Lol True! |

| our AGM is 6th feb, we have a new secretary who took over during the year, she seems very good, and we also have a couple of other members who have taken over treasurer / president etc, we normally have members just all helping out when basketing , anyone and everyone mucks in , which is good . how old is your club now ken, last i heard it was over 100 years old..........i think i heard someone saying our club was 50 years old, a youngster compared to yours |

Afraid they do not make them like that anymore friendsloft. Too many selfish fanciers today, not like the old school. One of my old clubs members did all sorts to purchase a building as a club house, sales, a weekly draw etc; It had a flat above which the club let. Just heard recently they have sold it, most left had never contributed anything towards it's purchase. When I stopped racing and resigned as President/Chairman I suggested if it was later sold the money should go to charity. Have no idea where the money ended up. The club was well over a hundred years old, I believe. Sign of the times unfortunately. Regards. |

| Misty you are right only time for themselves as long as they can race their pigeons and make a buck that's all they are interested in I try to run the club old style Friday night basketing those that stay behind have their tea paid for them even our presentation we have a sit down meal this year we catered for 20 as members bought a guest so we were able to put a few quid in the pub takings which keeps the landlord happy

| pulling the plug on my membership, far to high for a non flying member ...in fact taking the p1$$ i think ,money saved will be well spent on the wee fella also giving blackpool a miss and take the wee fella for a nice weekend away ,for too long the family have come second place to the pigeons but no more ,the boy comes first and the a very close second |

| cost me about £38 with 20 rings david ,think i am contributing to things i do not use so be much better just joining rpra off my own back and getting rings direct i stayed with the club just in case they wanted help on a odd night and to get rings but felt the fee was a bit expensive to say the least |

| yes misty, thats what my plans were originally, but with one thing or another im later than expected .....and like you say, its no good breeding lots of ybs if fanciers are unsure on how the season is going to turn out .
i expect fanciers to be at blackpool selling early young birds, they will have taken the chance, i think fanciers would be keen to buy early ybs, that was my plan.....
i think ill pair up in about a week if the weather is ok, so far its not been too bad . |

| David think about having a round ready to go middle August, fanciers been cleaned out racing YB's may well be looking to fill empty perches about that time. |
