| What I spent on 3 bags of race mix in March only gets me 2 bags now David.
One reason being given is wheat prices have doubled so I can't fathom out why mixtures without any wheat in have rocketed up by the same rate too??

| We adopted a flock of townies from a friend two doors away, his wife was fed up with them , he drops a bag of wheat in occasionally, but we also feed the small birds both front and back of house.
Best wild bird seed and coconut plus fat balls for the small birds plus we feed the squarels on pea nuts.We have a small unit where only the latter can get in other than the bue t**s and blackbirds, we crush a few pea nuts in the squarel unit and watch the bluetits and blackbirds go in and out when the squarel is abscent./
A friend paid £75.00 for two bags of feed, thinkas he is an old age pensioner he will either drastically reduce numbers or pack in.
The usual bill for our lot has gone up over £45 from the last time, I dare not tell you the total or the wife will get a divorce if she finds out.
Can remember when a bag of good feed was £5 until they started polidshing all the goodness out and put in fancy bags etc;
Wife looking over my shoulder bye.
Regards. |

Funny thing that David, Gave a fancier unemployed through ill health (Steve Armstrong) four young birds He fed mainly bread , one topped the four clubs and would have won the Vaux Usher race if it did not go to a previous loft location. Another bred him winners, a blue hen I gave on condition if he ever parted with it I wanted it back, he exchanged it for an alsation pup, End of friendship. Moral do not decry anything that works. Many roads to Rome. Regards. . |

| Funny thing about wheat.
Can remember when you could get a head of wheat and seperate the grain which was plump and sound.
Looked at the wheat I get for the townies and there is very little but husk.

Regards. Grain merchant told me we export most of our far superior home grown wheat and barley at premium prices then import overseas grown sub-standard grains at a cheap rate, that's good business sense but not so good as a consumer...... The UK grows more than enough wheat and barley to be self sufficient yet the faceless city traders/bankers/investment groups run the show, decide just where it goes abroad and at what price, and make billions£££ for their corporations and whopping bonuses for themselves. |

| like everything in this country colin, we should be self sufficient and not relying on others countries, we were the workshop of the world, trading and supplying the world, yet look at the state of our country now down to corrupt leaders and bankers etc |

| Presedently David we have to import 40% of our food.
To be self sufficeint we would have to change our methods, our farming methods etc;; have gone to pot.
Think the Government take the easy way out and no doubt a few back handers involved.
Gone to pot does not cover it.
Regards.

its too late now, the country is finished , Afraid David many people agree with that remark, including me. We have fish and chips every Thursday night from a mobile unit that comes just round the corner from us. Mixture of people use it and just earlier tonight whilst waiting the conversation got round to the state of the country and the poitics involved etc; All of the opinion we have lost our way and there is no way back. Regards. |
