| I own a feed merchant shop near Guildford Surrey, and ok, this has never been the heart land of the sport but 20 years ago all the small towns around and many villages could boast a club, but the numbers have dwindled and the average age of the flyers have increaced to over 70, with only a few middle aged and one boy. I am sure this is the same story across the country, 10 year time and the sport is as good as dead! What is being done to reverse this trend? and are there areas of the country not showing the same patterns? http://www.backhurst.com |

| i think its down to ourselves , we first have to get youngsters involved may by taking birds into schools and learning them all about racing pigeon from breeding to racing, if you only get one in a class that picks up the sport thats one we wouldnt of had so come on everyone who have got kids in infants or juniors schools ask the schools iam sure they wouldnt mind the kids learning about racing pigeons , |

| When I raced as a 15 year old, everyone except about 3 members were totally horrable to me and never gave me a feather, I used to clean the lofts every saturday and sunday of a top janssen flyer who was very wealthy and had 4 large lofts. He never gave me so much as an egg for my labour just the £5 he owed me..believe me nothings changed and the members are still the same, however I would give any new starter especially a youngster anything from my loft they wanted, because of the treatment I had when I was a poor 15 yearold fancier, and thats the problem with the sport its full of selfish back stabbers, but thankfully sites like this one do offer a glimmer of hope, as there are some genuine fanciers out there, but not many. |

| Thats good news david, nice to hear of a club getting on together, I no longer race in that club but still have some friends in it, I now race in another club 7 miles from the old one and all the fanciers get on and talk for hours after every meeting. The club is small and needs to stay together, but other clubs in my area are not so happy. By the way ask your daddy to give me a ring and you can have the blue cock |

| Martin it was the same when i flow with my dad you were always left to your own way, and it has never changed still the back stabbing which makes me sick
But i can say it is everywere but when you have a site like this which does give good advice then there is help for the novice
But i must say when you reading how some fanciers say they are willing to help any fancier and you know that, that same fancier is talking sxxx then that makes my blood boil |

| But will say if this sport is taken into schools then this mite help the sport and i think it is up to the RPRA to approach schools around the country to show the sport in a different light
Plus also set up different levels like league football, as this is the only sport were you are playing against the professionals from the of |
