Nope. Tiger grizzle is a gene. It creates what most call "mottles". It can be any base color, not just black. Tiger grizzle is found in many breeds.

Now, there ARE Tiger Swallows, which bred to lose pigment quickly in feathers that are plucked (not the same as moulting naturally). The fanciers pluck every other feather on the colored areas of the bird to give it a tigered look of alternating white/color.

Trevor you will find they are not mostly black grizzles mate, you can spot them easily enough ,many are very striking to the eye, funny thing, years ago when the kirckpatricks were the "in" craze early 70`s like, just before the dordins becaume flavour of the month, grizzles were advertised everywhere, loulla had them, but not the "Tiger" type, funny thing ,now when you see Louella advertise their Kirks, some are certainly "tigers",makes me laugh how they found there way into the Kirkpatricks, all i can think is Louella doesnt practise a closed gene pool.
One thing you will find with "tigers" many show no hint of griz until their autumn moult, when they transform themselves, something like thepencils who look "dirty" until the autumn moult, when they look crackers.
