| Do you see the top lofts keeping rubbish, i don't think so, they only keep the best at the end of every season |

| My best tip is at the end of the season, or the day after the last race go through the pigeons which are left and select the one that are rubbish and get rid
because once moulted they look different pigeons and you will give them a second chance |

| got to be realistic and know when/what to get rid of which is no good......only keep the winners or ones that have performed well, success breeds success...... |

| yes it does, but how do fanciers decide enough is enough when a pigeon hasnt done enough to earn its keep and to continue being part of the race team or breeding team ? |

| yes, good idea ian....if im not mistaken another of our members does something very similar. so do you always use this system with the ybs as well? or do you keep whatever are left to try them out as adults ? |

| I always made notes of the first 5 to the loft from any race and at the end of the season
The ones which never made it in the first 5 was gone regardless of breed and parents |

| yes don, another good method, as we see.....different fanciers have different ideas but they all lead to the same thing, which is to select the best and breed and race from the best therefor ensuring our team gets stronger and better as each year goes by. (hopefully....) |

| ah right ken, thought it was.....do you dispose of ybs in this way or do you try the ones you have left as yearlings/obs before deciding they are not good enough ? |

| well for me a pigeon would have to eaither be 2nd place in say 5-6 races out off 10 and breed good ybs aswell that are well in there first year and iff there no good in there first year theyll be no good at all , as you say there is a line you have to keep them down and keep them well , if you keep rubbish you going to end up with rubbish (i carnt talk yet ) but if they are seconds off winning thatll keep it perch for life unless it doent come home after a race , just my thoughts |
