SNOW ALL GONE

snow as all gone now down here in wellington the temp at the moment is 7 degree
can start getting some jobs done now down the loft . the birds are in good nick but with cold the cold weather
there eating like pigs , good luck to every one who is having a go in the site one loft race i wount be taking part as i have cut my team right down to the bare bones and i have promised to breed 6 for a new starter
so not enough to go round plus my job in the last 3 years as put me on short time working so money is rather tight but i will watch this site for progress good luck and a happy new year .

Hi Kev, pretty much the same up here, just the last remnents of snow to go now (be a right pain)

snow all gone here in sunny leeds, for now anyway............still cold though

snow is melt ing up here thank god its 2 degrees so its on with the tea shirts now for us geordies

wife says ive more layers of cloths on than an onion has skins.............. not as cold today tho but just dreading more snow still to come, lets face it the winter has only just started hasnt it......theres weeks left yet.

Here in the west midlands started to melt also 6 degress here

3 degrees here, shorts and tshirt weather

just about gone up here now lads its a lot milder but weather man says the cold weather will come back on new years day sorry to be a humbug

like a summers day today here in sunny south shields

weve had 2 days of horrible mist, cant even see loft from house......and never lifted from morning till night

yes same here, rain and mist..............cant seem to get the loft dry, been using floor whitener and cleaning out every day but seems damp.......

is everyone the same ?

yesterday when there was alot of mist it did, just because its in the air

think i should have used the horse bedding in all the sections......

Snow 99% gone now

think its all gone here now don, todays been milder but still wet/damp.......cleaning out every day again as usual while i can before it freezes again...

yes, loft damp with it..........using floor white but it doesnt make much difference..

Sand 1 part and Shavings 2 parts for me matejust to help keep the dampness down

wood chippings are much better than shavings the shavings can get dusty when they fly about the loft gets in there eyes , just my opinion tho

the soft lay horse bedding are wood chippings, and these stay pretty much down on the floor....apart from going in the water that is but the thing for that is to stand the drinker on something............

dont like things which fly around the loft such as sawdust etc....

Know were your coming from but you can get shavings which are large and more course and do not give of dust like the smaller shavings should have explained better sorry

But will say i hate things which go into the air as soon as a pigeon flaps it's wings,this can cause loads of problems to the pigeons health

we used to have bare floors as well , used sand also and shavings ..we found wood shavings the best as you do,nt have the clean the floors every day and gives you more time with the birds. it ok if you have a small set up it only takes minutes to do, but when we where working we did,nt have the time really..i,m out of work now of course but we have just stuck with them like i said to save time..... even some top flyers do not clean out at all, they say it helps the ammune system, i,m not sure about this one it might just be a excuse not to clean out
