i havnt raced old birds yet since restarting, but when we raced years ago once racing had started we stopped the widowhood cocks training and exercised around the loft twice a day..............

when you let them out to fly don,t hang around the loft
cos if they see you they don,t exercise properly , keep them on a stricked time scale
on feeding and exercise and keep them calm dont disturb them to much
let them rest , if you can feed them in the box and try to have a play fight with them but always let them
think they have won give them a couple of pea nuts as a treat after the evening meal .

yes kev i agree, the w/hood cocks shouldnt be able to see whats going on outside because it will disturb them resting during the week days, the lof shouldnt be dark but maybe a little bit shaded...........
