Windy and raining here in Southport, I have seen quite a few birds going over today in ones an two's. They should make their way back Kev once they get back on track, or dry out.

They will be back mate once the weather calms down, but it's been a disaster for many guys all over the country with many fed transporters moving from the original lib sites to others just to get a lib on the day.

y wud any convoyer want to liberate in apauling weather is besides me dont understand and how can they justify letting them go wen they now its goin to be a disaster and lots ov birds lost unessarsary dont understand there mentality surely wud be better to fetch them bk home than just to throw them up . in the early 90,s i took a yr out as my m8 had just tendered then for the then snowdonia fed on anglesey but wasnt so sure ov how to look after pigeons and liberate them so i was asked if i wud be second in command at liberation site so i aggeed if it wasnt fit they didnt go up end of even fetched them bk home on an occasion and even held them till a monday so just cause there on the transporter dont mean they gtta go up . rant over now but fink they shud use fanciers on tranporters as second man JMO

we were at portsmouth yesterday bad day all round big losses but when lib it was ok to lib no rain but cloudy and a strong NE wind do you wait till there is a break in the cloud and see a bit of sun or do you let them go in cloudy conditions i think the only thing what stoped them was the strong NE wind they din,t want to face it. our convoyer is a top pigeon man in his own right hes not got any birds back your damed if you do and your damed if you don,t pigeons will work back once the weather clears up .

i think when they know there is bad weather all over the country and its been like it all week, then they should have more thought for the birds, even if it eases up for a while, they know its gona come again later in the day and most of the birds arnt going to make it home in time...........i havnt raced this season so this is just my opinion.

well kev personly i dont aggree because if the weather not right they wudnt go up but jmo m8 no offence . and ye david aggree with you they shud be finkin ov birds welfare as alot ov people spend lots ov money time and dedication into the birds to get them rite . but all i will say is wen the transporter is down on birdage in a few wks they be finkin is it payin for them to tranport them . but wud rather have mine fetched back than just thrown up . i even do that wen im trainin just cause ive taken them dont mean i gnna chuck them up if weather turns bad wen im out jmo

Like anything else there are good and bad, the same goes for the race controllers. They should look ahead at the weather, because if they are libbed in a clear area and there is a big wet weather front ahead of them, we all know that pigeons will try their best to fly around it, instead of ploughing straight through it. This is the reason that so many go off course. But obviously if they start flying around it and hit another bad weather front, then it's disaster, they get wet or flown out and go down. I once had this happen from portland in a classic race, my best hen, she scored three times from this racepoint, but got reported 8 miles from the lib site. I kicked off with conveyor but he said it was fine where he libbed from. But they didn't look ahead at the weather fronts coming in.

look we can all sit here and say this that and the other , but no one makes you send your birds to the race i hold my hands up and say we all knew the weather was sh**e this weekend so i blame my self not the convoyer or the birds , hindsight is a wonderfull thing it was dry when he let them go but we all know what the weather can do in a instant CHANGE, convoyers have a hard enough job im not knocking them, just my self .cheers kev

We've all done it Kev, I used to be one of the worlds worst for sending to every race regardless and funnily enough I used to get away with 9 times out of 10. Lets just hope this horrid weather settles down and these missing birds get the chance to head home.
