| I'm not being funny or owt Steve, but to me it sounds a little intense. Personally, when I work out a programme for my team, what goes into my drinker corresponds to my feed. If I put anything into my drinker it's for a specific purpose. Obviously when a bird has come back from a race you want to make it recover quickly hence the Glucose/Dextrose Electrolites, this together with a light feed such as depurative which is easily digestible, I usually add some wheatgerm oil to this as it helps the muscles and relaxes the stiffness. I usually put honey in the water prior to basketting as it's an extra source of carbohydrate. But anything else, should be given for a specific purpose. Somethings like Cider Vinegar, Garlic should only need to be given maybe once every two weeks, same with the elderberry as it's a great tonic. But as with anything else, watch you don't over do it, as it will lose it's effectiveness as well as it's benefit. It's only my opinion mate. |

| the main things i use in the water are honey, vitamins, sometimes cider vinegar and sometimes mollassis........i dont use these on set days, i use for example honey/mollassis on return from a race, or vitamins once or twice during the week.........i do use plain fresh water at least alternate days
in my opinion you dont need something in the water every day...... |

| David you say you reckon their should be something in the water every day in my opinionon that would be, if your giveing some thing every day when you want that bit extra you cant give to your birds as they shouldnt be able to use it because they supose to be toped up alwayes keep a bit back for when they need it |

well Steve,to be honest, whats wrong with clean fresh water mate,i feel sorry for your birds,if i was 1 of them the 1st thing i would do when let out for excersise or released from a basket would be to go to ground to find a decent drink, and the more i think abou it,your management could certainly be classed as cruel, all the poor things want is a refrehing drink and you refuse to give it to them, lets hope the RSPB,RSPCA.and others do not read your post, its shocking ,lets pray you do not try it on any youngbirds in the race season, they would fall out the baskets on release,as some do,shocking!!!!!!!! |

If your happyKev,like others on here to condone this lads efforts, thats down to you,but if you really think tainting the drinking water every single day of the year will get the birds in the best possible condition, your having a laugh, sad the pigeons got to put up with that,if only they could talk |

Fair play Steve i will stand by your comment mate nice one, its all about asking and seeing what is best then you can make your own judgement Steve can i say that on a basket night lets say friday you give the just plain water because that will help them loads Plus if you (Lets say) give them vitamins on a friday this can sometimes dehydrate them ( i was told this sometime ago) thats why a lost of fanciers just use plain water on a friday If you want to make sure your birds drink plenty this is what myself and Billy did had the birds out friday morning half hour get them in give them a small feed then remove the water replace the water (fresh) later that afternoon lets say 2 hours before you send them to the club then they are hydrated for the race the following day Hope this helps you out mate |
