old bird season so far

just a thought lads how are ur old birdsflying so far are ye happy with their performances.

havnt raced old birds , and only have 11 ybs.....hopefully i might manage to race the ybs this season.

family problem arose when i was starting training my old birds george, so i needed to concentrate on this rather than pigeons..........i did have 25 ybs but gave away half of them as i didnt see me being able to race ybs either, but im hoping i might still be able to race these 11 which i have.

i,m happy with my old birds so far ,even though i have only one win ,but not many have had 2 if any...i,ll put up all my results so far this season..i hope everyone else will do the same...good luck

terrible season this year . most of our club members has been hit bad every week with north north east winds . birds has been going down like scittles this year . only 10 old birds left from 49 . 7 still racing 3 was stopped after 140 miles as late breds. 7 left to race out of 46 . will be sending three this week just to try and stay in our 3 bird trophy for the 5 longest races. apart from that i could stop now if it wasent for that trophy. pairing up a couple of pair for our 500 mile race in three weeks time . i will be glad when the old birds stop this year . concentrate on our young bird team now .never had a year like this one. 7 out of 14 back now from last race . cock back this morning he was hawked too .

well its all behind us now . just have to hope that the last three races are in better weather . if only this north east winds would go away and give us a break. am glad now we have 56 young birds this year again . looks like we will need everyone.

lets hope the weather comes better john for the yb season, altho i remember last season a few bad yb races because of bad weather......

i will be watchen how much i send david . if theres a snufter of north east wind i just wont be puting them. i must think about my team for next year now . i will stop half my team after 140 miles this year . at least i will have half my team for next year and what ever comes through the young bird season . that will be my team for next year. theres been to much times this year that the birds should not have been libbed . am not taking chances with the young birds

Stormqueen now you have got it right if there is any east in the wind then just stop and think how hard a race it could be that does not mean you don't send just pick the right birds that you think will do it george

This is our 1st season racing old birds and all i can say its been terrible east or north easterlys and cold they have all been hard flogs more like a endurance race we were waiting for land birds @6o,clock on Saturday just gone it were like a channel race lets hope the the youngbird season is better.

i think for some the sooner the better for this season to finish,its been the hardest racing i,ve known since keeping pigeons..i,ll be flying to the end hopefully..i was going to race the channel but to be honest i do,nt think i have the birds for it,so why throw them away ,i,ll get some for next year lol

I can't complain I've done alrite started with 30 still got 22 and I'm happy the way they've come lastyear I won the averages for the most suspentions hahaha 3 in a row lol now that takes some beating

the season started great
with 3 wins out of first 4 races then black saturday came and have won 1 since but birds seem to be homing instead of racing home in my opinion,
have 8 out of 16 left

i think a lot of birds have had the heart ripped out of them and the wilingness to race after all the hard races maybe its time to give them some free time at home and a good rest so they revitalise themselfs for whats left of the season better to miss a week or two than keep pushing tired birds jmo

i had 11 obs to race and 9 of these were yearlings and now have 6 left after 5 races had a few places and raced them natural and found my first ob season very enjoyable at times ,however the weather has not been kind and we have had 2 liberations when the birds should have been held over and these are the only two races i did not have full returns ....i just hope we get a good yb season weather wise

we sent 4 cocks last week.
lost 1 one came back in good order.
the other two one had half its tail out and the inner flights on its wing gone..
the other bird had its inner flights all gone.
