Hi David, I have taken hundreds of eye shots so I can advise that if you want to take a good picture of the birds Eye, you will need a digital camera that has what is known as a Macro lens built in. This just means that before you take the picture you must turn this function on so that the inbuilt computer in the camera can focus clearly at a distance of a few centimeters from the birds Left Eye and turn off the flash (it is easier to get a better picture of the left eye) but do both eyes anyway. You will also need to illuminate the eye to get the muscles around the pupil to constrict and to show the full eyesign, maybe you can use some kind of torch but NOT ANY LIGHTSOURCE that gives out too much heat like a halogen light for obvious reasons. When we do do eye pics one of us holds the bird and the light or sunshine is shone into the eye from the left side of the camera and we take 6 or more pics of each eye and then choose the one that has focused best or the one that the bird isnt flinching or closing his or her eye in,lol. Once you have done a couple its easy but it can be fun and games at first, lol. I look forward to seeing the pics. |
