| pair up around 1st of feb
cant see where you gain much if you pair any earlier just extra work and feeding
plus with the weather you cant get them out all the time so they get strong
on the wing and piss off
all going on the darkness |

| what ya call early mate i pairing stock on 7th december and racers around 20th jan last season the january round fled better but i think if ya breed early yb ya need to get them sitting early before 1st race to use there age advantage like that would prefer natural yb but ya cant compete if ya dont go on dark natural yb well schooled after 2 races will start dropping off the pace against dark 1 thing that i find is of the 2011 yb the best yearling was a natural coincedence i dont think so

| used to pair weekend nearest 16th Jan so as to get YB;s away in time for training widow cocks. It was always more about the gap between parting the YBs and the first race than wanting early youngins. Weather usually put the block on things anyway so whatever you plan you're lucky if it goes accordingly. Early YBs great if you can get them out and on the wing. |

| personally I prefer early bred yb, especially for light system, usually get um down later half of November so it gives me time to lock them down for a few weeks to get um through the moult. Then commence training with the ob, as there is not many yb about training. This i believe keeps training losses to a minimum and by the time the first yb race comes along they have had a good education completely through the moult and look yearlings. |

| We are pairing up after Blackpool we paired up early this season and the youngbirds were getting attacked with the sparrowhawk we didnt have the problem last year so we will do the same and last years youngbirds won more 1sts. |
