| hi lads just a couple of questions for you how what kind of feeding trays would you use to feed your birds at the moment the lads i am helping use open style trays i dont think very higenic as birds walk all over the fee.d and leave bits off dropings in the corn if any bits left they tip back into the corn bin also they let young birds wander in the drinking troughs dont want to huff anybody any sugestions terryp...well done every body at the week ends racing... |

| hi terry I was using one of them feeders your talking about and then had the same problem with the birds standing all over the food so I went to pigeon store and they had these feeders called pigeon food hopper's basically its a box that holds all your food in the one place and when you want to feed the birds you take away a piece of wood, there is holes In the hopper that the birds can get there heads in but cant stand on the food and also a lot less waste this works for me. if you google pigeon hopper you will see them hope this helps joe |

| Joe, You can get these from the corn shop at Boldon Colliery: [img] [/img] Come in 2 or 3 different lengths and do the job. |

| hi terry, sorry to say im one of those who feed in trays, i`ve always fed this way and as long as they are removed when the birds have finished eating i cant see them causing much of a health problem in my opinion.....as long as they are scraped out and kept clean i m happy to feed this way.
as for the open drinker, usually my ybs when weaned already know how to drink, as i feed the parent in the nestbox, the ybs copy them and can already eat and drink.........the odd time i will remove the top of the drinker which i think encourages the ybs to get in and have a drink, ok this is not ideal but i prefer them to do this than not drinking and therfor going backwards and having to be binned..... | no I haven't seen them I must look into getting as the birds would not be able to get in on top of the food, do you think there is any advantage to these one's compared to the hopper feeders? |
