| only 148 birds away this week in our club, unbelievable,i cannot understand why people pack in half way through a season.surely these men need to look at their management instead of blaming the pigeons every week..i have,nt done as well as i do normally but mine will go right till the end.thats why i have racing pigeons ,to race,or at least try..by the way i have 47 out o the 148 away......thats means nowt as you know as it only takes one |

| ray not every one as big teams mate , if there like me then one bad race can wipe you out its best to keep them back till next season or you won,t have a team . managment doesn,t come in to it ive lost birds this year what flown in the national flying club and gone down in inland races from 100 miles but down here we have bad BOP attacks in the south west , i don,t know the answer ray but nearly every one in my club have only 6 or 7 left . |

| i agree with what kev says, but also agree with ray when he says a lot of fanciers blame the pigeons, when its down to themselves not managing them properly.......its the old "a poor workman blames his tools" syndrome |

| I dont have the room to house 47. I cant afford to feed 47 and i sure as hell couldent afford to send 47 every week so maybe cost is an issue for some but best of luck Ray. |

| Ray your right in one way managment has got a lot to do with with it but the birds cant carry on dodging hawks in time they will get caught its not being caught that does the damage, the birds is in a hell of a mess when they have been attacked I have 6 birds left 2 or 3 is going to Barcelone Im not a bad flyer but I dont no at the moment what to do for the best their is some thing els behind this that we have to find or get through it if we are going to survive |

Ray you are spot on mate why not send your birds if you have them no good looking at them with the cost of this sport getting out of hand then test your birds There are lots of fanciers with large teams but its everyone to there own weather you have a large or small team no wrong in that mate |

| i totally agree mate with ya mate why not send pigeons if you got them we fly in 3 clubs and only started with 17 cocks and after 1st race we lost 5 cocks so started 10 hens off since then we have sent every week in most clubs sometimes only sending 2 or sometimes sending up to 7 but as my dad says he likes to support the clubs we members off and always nice to win when ya send a few and some of the others send loads |

Interesting Ray. The money side of things certainly plays a major part for many flyers etc when they race. No one scheme fits all, one could say. My area, they pay $200 up front at Fed level, which allows them to race 30 birds a week for 20 out of the 22 races etc from 100 to 600 miles, plus a $ a bird on basket night. The system has stood the test of time now here & works quite well. Infact !!! The Fed in the last few years by being proactive etc has been able to lower the costs to the members, on the racing side. Which can only be a good thing for the sport. ***** |
