Our Fed start next week @ Stafford but it isnt a fed race we wont be sending as every man and his dog will jump them all in and think oh they will stick together thats when the problems start we will wait for the 3rd race. |

- send them all
we can get cleaned out here at that distance , one percie strike in the hills and 1000,s can go awol never to return , best to send half unless you get the type of racing they all home in a batch . dont get that here can be 5 and 10 mins between 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th in races depends what valleys they come up . |

| We have huge networks of valleys here in the Algarve portugal and when we begin to train the Youngsters in January (latebreds with old rings on them bred in July, August) so 6 months or so of age. I make sure that eventually they are all tossed from 60 miles as the crow flies 2 or 3 times on the otherside of the Monchique mountains in small groups of 5 or less colour coordinated 5 to 10 mins apart to cut down on the chance of attack and make them think for themselves. This puts the birds in good stead and they also get 3 trainers with the Federation birds in Feb and March,a few thousand in the lib going all over the Algarve from 100 miles or so. They are ready for anything after that and their 1st race is 170 miles. Any birds that are put in untrained or unfit are left for dead and never seen again they will not and do not affect the well prepped pigeons. |
