I have power lines no far from my loft and its always been a problem for me, I loose a couple of birds every year and If the wind blows a certain way or its over 10/15 mph they stay in.

I have had the electric people out several times and they are covered in swinging target type of dangling things all along the wires every 3/4 feet but they still hit them if the weathers windy, in the summer I only let half the youngsters out at time, as the less there is flying about the less they seem to hit them. I would ask them to put them on yours before you start as it takes weeks for them to come out but Good luck.

i have a park next to the house and power lines down the road same as martin i do loose a few when the y/b first go up mainly as they tend to turn right as they leave the loft not knowing once over the house roofs many trees await them most get passed that stage but when they get a bit more flighty they then meet with the power lines most years i loose a few that get broken legs and torn chest so bad ya cant repair um sad but it happens once they are aware of them it stops

i know british telecome put corks on phone lines for you as for power lines we have about six rows of them and i doubt they would do anything as they would say theres to many and there about 700 yards from the loft

MMMMmmmm  Smile Smile Not a nuclear one (Cheinoble type) I hope Merrylegs. Back to the power line thing. Not much you can do "Unless you want to spend Big Big money" solving the problem/issue. Better to have a nursery/hospital  in place etc be forehand. For when the  birds zig  Rolling Eyes  Rolling Eyes Wink Wink   instead of zagging.  cheers
