| Posted this earlier another site thought I might share and get some input? All went well. Too much snow in the bush for the last quarter mile. Let the birds out before walking. What a pleasure watching them fly!! They are getting their essentials from the ground now. Young bird loft has been closed up all winter. however had old birds and others nesting in their. No boxes now just 4 inches of shavings and perches. Quite a few wanted to go back in their. So opened it up. Checked an hour later and cocks fighting for corner nesting places. On the floor. so when it comes to discipline in the birds, I am lacking the Teutonic thoroughness of many. So. Figured that about 7 pair will lay the second round in the young bird loft then all born in the other 16 foot section should stay there. There are 24 boxes and perches. Should be lots of room. The ones in the young bird loft will not raise any there. Thinking so far anyway. Why make it hard? Gets aggravating when you are trying to train birds to different regimes. Frustrating at times. So being inherently lazy going with the easy way. Lots of advantages and disadvantages. If Ii win it will probably be against the odds. But I can pick and choose what to send Cocks or hens. Birds are still out really busting the skies. Beautiful day here. Pouring rain tomorrow but this is Canada eh? |

| Basic idea is to give the birds their love for home. Mate, nest, whatever. Wherever they feel the happiest. Happy birds have as much motivation as any on widowhood or other systems. I think so anyway. they will try harder. JMO. Have to see how it works. Much less initial stress on the young birds obviously. |
