old cocks not filling eggs

Steve that is a good bit of reading and something to keep in mind, but for me have had old cocks 10,12,14 years old who have always breed, but as time gets on top of them, and we breed early each year the cold weather does not help

But as you have said and i agree with you as soon as they have a bit of sun and the weather is warmer then bingo they start to fill

But when they start getting old i would move them to a place were they can tread the hen correctly with out having another cock knocking them of the hen as we all know when a cock is going to tread it's hen and another cock sees this happening that cock will then come and knock the cock of the hen he is trying to tread, and for me i think that is how you get clear eggs.

Well I got to say never heared of 7 day theory or any other but interesting, but I was told that the hen can retain the sperm for a long time longer than 7 days, I once had a hen paired to a cock, he died and she remated now she laid with the new cock and 1 of the youngsters was from the old cock???? but what has been said does make sence for better fertility. I have lots of old cocks and hens, 10 years +, I give them vit e and all full this year except 1 pair only 1 egg fertile.
