Alan Darragh  is one of the top fanciers  in NI  I think to date he has won 7 nationals  he don't treat any ybs who are sick and also disposes  of there parents if you google  alan darragh NI  you might find it a good read

George tell you something else about Alan I read at the end of every racing season once he has sorted the pigeons out, he would remove all water fountains and feed and would not go to the loft for 3 days

This was to help clear the birds out

To any newbie in the sport Don Smile Smile what Alan D does would appear cruel at first glance I suspect. But 3 days without food for healthy pigeons really is nothing from my perspective, tho I would worry about the water issue. But then Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes lol! lol! lol! I wouldn't argue with a man bounce bounce that has won 7 nationals etc Wink Wink. cheers

I understand were you are coming from but not every fancier do things the same but it was what I read in one of the pigeon books, I did read that the reason for this was to break the cycle within the pigeons which helps clean them out also

its all about how comfortable you feel not feeding and watering your birds for 3 days mr darragh is quite extrovert in his conduct with the pigeons many many national winners don't adopt the same approach ie mr gilbert the coopers etc...and do quite well lol winning international races too I know which approach I feel comfortable with some guys just see the pigeons as objects to gain
a bit of glory in the pigeon world which is fine but as far as I am concerned I like to adopt a different role and look in the mirror in the morning knowing I have not used or abused and done right by the birds.ffs where has the enjoyment gone in racing its not all their is in life Very Happy

Fair comment O/S Smile Smile at the end of the day etc Wink Wink the mirror senaro bounce bounce has to be the the way we judge ourselves in all matters I suspect. If one has a conscience of any value, type of thing. cheers

George it has been a few years ago but i thin you are correct it was to help with worms and any other bad bacteria within the pigeons gut
