| Good luck Ray, i worry every time they come out of the basket, I always have a good look around before I open up, but as soon as they come out I'm sure I can see at least a dozen Hawks lol |

| Every time I say I'm taking them training it piggin rains, chucking it down at the minute here, if it clears up I may take them to the 10 miler instead of the 20 mile I was hoping to do |

| nothing back today probably flown out somewhere as they were very healthy and very fit ...ah well have to think of the ones here and the show must go on ybs have taken their knock very well and all seem sharp this morning so back on the road tomorrow and a day of rest today ...its not the knocks that ruin your season its how you react to them and we are staying positive, its the worst toss I have ever had 5 still away |

Well done edgie - these can be troubling time - or at least 'nerve wracking' at least. Phil |

| don't worry about any losses these days, that's why I go straight to 12 mile, sort the crap out quick,it makes the homing instinct kick in, cant be doing with this 1 mile 2mile caper, they already been further than that rangeing and they can see a lot further also, at the end of the day we all want good pigeons not molly coddled crap |

OK you guys - you take your young birds to 10 or 12 miles, for their time training by car. My question is:- How long would you expect that 'First' training toss to take? And what sort of time is Too Long? Over to you. Phil |

| There isn't a too long really as they are just learning. It takes them 3 or 4 tosses to realise there is food in the loft on their return. By the 5th toss they will all be trapping within a minute of each other. If possible keep a spare hen in with the young birds, it will wind the young cocks up, and show them the ropes when training. I sent the spare hen that's been in with the young birds and been training with them to the last old bird race yesterday, she's paired to a young cock, and she won the race. |
