Decided to put 4 of my best race hens to stock for next year. They have all been multi prize winners and first prize winners .from 60 miles to 400 miles they will be 3 year olds next year . Better safe than sorry you can send them once too often

yes you can edgie, heard it many times how someone sends a good pigeon to a race and it never comes back...too late once its gone.

hope they breed plenty of winners for you next season...

I've heard this a number of times at the club, so and so had a good cock/hen won this that and the other sent it once to often and the bird is gone , everyone saying we told him not to send it and now it's gone, like edgie , when do members say, enough, I'm stopping this bird and it's going to stock

no 2 situations are the same with pigeons a smaller loft may have to race birds to an older age just to be part of the game , again its about how much space you have fair play to steve and what he does I wish him all the best ...as for what age do you keep a pigeon for stock I guess its whatever you fancy some of the worst racers have been the best breeders but like steve I would choose my best race hens for stock and shorten the odds of a decent yb from them theirs to many paper pigeons about

I think I would be tempted to stop all 1st prize winners........

but thinking about it I could be stopping a future multi prize winner reach its full potential....
