This week's race results from Frogland Empty
PostSubject: This week's race results from Frogland   This week's race results from Frogland EmptySun May 07, 2017 5:38 pm

After a postponed race on Saturday - our birds were up this morning (Sunday) at 9:00 hours in a dull and overcast sky with a slight head wind.

As far as we can tell, the forecast was for showers en route and the wind veering slightly within an hour of liberation. Which is a shame as yesterday (Saturday) was a really lovely day.

We were at the same place as our very first French race today, (93 miles), which was supposed to be the first of two comeback races but now they have cancelled the second comeback race. But at least we felt we were on a slightly more level playing field to everyone else, as at least our birds had been to this liberation point before.

By 11 o'clock we were expecting to see birds, but nothing turned up until 11:33, closely followed by another two birds a minute and a bit later.

By clock reading time we still had 3 of our 11 birds away. So we went to the club with heavy hearts.

However - after the clocks were read, we found out, not only were we first, but second and third! And the best thing about the day was, not only did we win, but we were nearly 9 minutes in front of the French National Champion, who is in our club, who took fourth place.

We don't know how we will have got on in the Fed until mid week, but we will let you know in due course.

In finishing, I would just like to thank Hil for all the hard work and effort she puts in to our birds, it is really really appreciated.

Phil

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day who is also English, he and his wife compete in horse drawn carriage competitions around France

They are very good and win quite often. He told me that there is a rule in horse competitions in France, that states:-

"No NON French person can come higher than EIGHTH place, even if they win outright!"

How about that - biased or what.

I leave that thought with you - have a good one.
