There are lots out there to choose from.
David, you say that the RPRA one is popular with members - has anyone asked members if they want to send birds to the RPRA race and on what scale - 0 -- for not at all and 10-- for very much.
It seems to me that we are being very narrow mined about what events to send our birds to.
There must be at least 4 or 5 One Loft races just in the UK - never mind the dozens abroad.
David, you should talk to Paul about the things he has and is doing.
Phil
not being narrow minded phil, don't panic......the rpra is only one of many one lofts, all these options will need to be discussed, and all members of the syndicate will need to have their say.
also all members will need to give their opinions on which birds will be sent. I don't know why you think I am panicking - I an not the kind of person that Panics ever. Phil |

| I can understand where Phil is comming from he aplanner looking ahead to things to come ,like the rest of us he is setting his stall out for 2018 what birds he wants for this that or the other , what young birds he wants out of which adult birds and its the same with one loft racing which one or ones do we enter, do we go with a well known stud or with a forum fancier or fanciers, its not always too early to have discussion to put ideas forward , just my way at looking at what phil was saying Ken |

| Just an observation. Pigeons flown in the North may have a better chance in a North one loft race. France, same thing, Irish or whatevr. Horses for courses? No matter to me. I will go with the flow. |

Hal - do you have actual proof or experience of what you say is right? It sounds an interesting concept. Having said that, I know of English guys sending their pigeons to Cyprus, Gran Canaria, Algarve, Poland etc and they very well. Phil |

| No Phil. No proof. However, according to some Belgian/Dutch fanciers, birds bred from flyers in their local area seem to do better than those bred out of area. Think Ad S alluded to it. |

Phil panicking was merely a figure of speech phil, do not take it literally.... while we have a few members giving this 2018 one loft some input, I think it would be a good idea if members who wanted to breed a yb make it be known, I reckon most members on here do own some decent birds, which have proven them selves one way or another, either racing or breeding....so lets hear from those members. secondly our birds supplied by tumley stud did pretty well for us, so do we try get Jamie to supply two more next season...? with reading about one loft racing recently, and watching who was bidding on the rpra auction birds, ive come to the conclusion the fanciers who enter and do well have bought tried and tested pigeons in previous rpra auctions, and sent the young off them back the year later.....OR it is fanciers who already own a certain type of pigeon, that consistently does well in one loft racing. I remember a few years ago our forum had a syndicate in the somerset one loft, we sent a couple of ybs bred off a fancier who had won 1st national....the ybs did nothing, and if I remember rightly were lost very early on, either in training or hot spot races, and never made the final. so I think what birds we send will need careful consideration ... |

| I think birds bred off one loft performers do better. Why I do not know, but seems to be the norm. Could be that those birds have superior immunity and do not stress out easily. |

| David - the bird that was left at the end of ALL the races was 81st and I believe you bought it David.
What is it's Ace Pigeon rating?

| our rpra birds "ace pigeon" rating was 394, for what that's worth...end of the day all that is, is an average position out of 5 races, the main thing is in my opinion is that our pigeon raced better as the distance got further, and completed all the race program. this dai evans bird has the provenance, on which tumley stud is selling its brother, and also that it came 81st position after a 6 and a quarter hours hard race. some may say 81st position isn't very good, but thinking of the bigger picture that ybs off it paired to the right mate might go back into a one loft in future, and possibly do better, as the bloodline is there.... http://www.tumleylofts.co.uk/product/17e849-cock-dai-evans/ |

| Which members would be interested in putting a pigeon in the race? Phil has just bought some good ones, Ray has some good ones. 81st winner should probably breed a contender. Quite a few others on here also. |

ive other plans for the 81st place winner hal.... I think if we decide to send any ybs off our members, they will need to be something suited to one loft racing, and all members will need to be happy with any choices made. I think one loft racing is a lot different to club racing. |

| Oh well. Sooner we get something going more time for finalizing. Actually have been checking out the idea of sending 2 birds from here to the UK. Under my name, my cost. Info is scarce to come by but still entertaining the idea. |

http://www.tumleylofts.co.uk/product/17e849-cock-dai-evans/ The pigeon I bought from the RPRA 1 loft has an Ace rating of 186 (against 393rd position for the forum's bird) - therefore the bird has to be the 186th best bird out of - however many birds were sent - somewhere near 1,400 birds I think. I think 186th over ALL the races is quite good. BUT - not Brilliant. In my opinion if a bird is not in the top 30, it's almost an also-ran. On Saturday I met the guy who bred the bird I bought at the RPRA loft, and have bought three birds from him - all the same way bred as the one from the RPRA race - The Mother of the bird and the sister of the bird. He sends his birds all over the world to One Loft races and does VERY well. He was Second in one really big One Loft race, only beaten by 2 seconds and that could have been because the first bird went through the trap a bit quicker. Who knows which bird arrived back first. I have the mother of that bird. Maybe we could do something with her and get a real winner out of her. But I need to find an equally talented One Loft race cock to cross her with. Anyway once again the offer is there. Phil |

We have met James from Tumley lofts and we were not impressed with their setup. Can I also point out that both of the videos are from nearly TEN years ago. The boy you see in the first video is James and is now married with two children. We think we were over-charged for the birds we bought from them, but at that time we did not know any better. Also we did them a big favour for them, without any thanks at all. Phil |

| Right - I have found out a lot more about the loft and family where our three new One Loft race birds have come from.
The guy that bred the three birds we bought at the weekend has the following records:-
Bulgaria - 5th - 12 seconds behind the winner
500 km race - 2nd place and 2nd Ace pigeon
Pixel race - 1st and 2nd
Somerset race - 5th and 12th
This years RPRA - 12th and 17th
Ireland National One loft - 35th
I would say that was AMAZING!
So somewhere the blood of these birds must be in the three we bought.
I am NOT showing off - just stating the FACTS.

| its going to be difficult selecting our representatives with so many members wanting to send a bird ...I have no doubt we all have a pair that are capable of breeding something that would have the potential to do well ...what will we do ? draw lots or something similar ? |

| I'd say the one that's actually doing the business in this country is peel bros, winning, and winning well against some of the top boys in the north east and then there's oldstrain, doing really well in his neck of the woods, and just brought in some cracking stock by the way of franz zwol, then the scaife lads, new to the forum but have had a brilliant season with their hereman- cuesters, so plenty to choose from, let's see what the forum says |
