some people visot the vets with there birds and dont let on whats wrong they try to get one over on you but they dont realise that they have to basket with you on race days so why not tell you so everyone can treat if something is going around then it can be cleared up quickly

this is one thing that bothers me, my birds have thankfully been more or less illness free since ive had them, i think this is because they never come into contact with other pigeons but when i stsrt racing they will so as far as im concerned its worrying..........

ian is it not a bit pointless entering birds for a race if they are sick?is their guys who will still enter birds so that nobody thinks their is something wrong with them.

Can understand were your coming from Steve but there are fanciers out there who send just for the sack of it with no regards for there birds

Thats the difference between a champion fancier compared to an ordinary fancier

yes in my opinion it is pointless entering sick birds but some people are just greedy still wanting to win the prize money no matter what ,

yes sick birds will not win ,so whats the point

Absolutely no point in sending a sick bird, in fact i think it could be seen as cruelty.
Only a good, healthy bird, that is in form , could stand a chance to win.

so do the members who are doing the basketing have the authority to stop a bird being entered if they think its ill.....? does this ever happen?

if they dont have the authority they should have then.

yes you do have the authority to take birds out but this is not always visable

yes have taken birds out before with dirty wattles or one eye cold

whoever put them in should be suspended until they get their birds treated, sec should go to the loft and see it has been done.

what decent pigeon man would enter birds in this condition....?

think some do it so theres not only him with sick birds, bad sportsmanship

wonder why they do it steve....? they must know they are not going to win with them.......?and it cant be that they dont notice when catching and basketting...............

i wouldnt have much respect for people who do this and i wouldnt mince my words if i knew.also its very unfair on the birds.dont think guys up here in scotland would do that as they would get a punch on the nose from several guys.im not joking on that point.ive seen guys up the pigeon aution shop in glasgow getting a good balling for trying to move on a sick bird.any bird that goes in the pen and doesnt look right is taken back out and given back.told to get the bird back in the box and gets some rough remarks from others.that usually puts an end to it.
