| ive seen some with wire floors, but you still got to get it from under when it falls through, too much messing for my liking. |

| David i would prefer a wire mesh or grate floor with trays underneath. Some aviaries I've seen with paved floors turn to pools of mush when the rain bleaches in and mixes with the birds s*** . Maybe no so much a problem if you clean out daily but recipe for trouble and disease if you don't have time to keep paving pretty clean. Saw a nice aviary recently with a hardwood slatted floor but not cheap. |

| thanks colin, I reckon a wire / grill floor would be better as far as the droppings are falling through, but I`m planning on a full length one across my 18ft loft, and roughly 6-7 ft wide, which I would need to walk inside it to feed and water. |

| I see, nice big aviary that. I guess paving flags lend themselves best for flooring that sized area. Alternatively perhaps, don't know how a gravel base would be? You could rake it over now and again, and plenty drainage if rain drives in but probably end up with undesirable rodents coming up through it, good luck I'm sure other lads will offer suggestions. |

| yes colin, once this new loft is up I can put the aviary across my other loft then, in such a way all birds will have access to it, not sure if to partition into sections or just leave it big, as one.......then they can fly around .. |

| As big as you can go dave with slab floor wire mesh sides and front and on the roof with poly carb on top just in Case the roof blows off and a solid back |

| yep, good thinking that mark, wire and sheets on the roof....its very windy round the side of my house, and sheets could quite easily get blown off, no matter how firmly they are fixed.
better to be safe than sorry, for the price of a bit more wire. |

| Use wire for floor. Raised a foot or so. Wire all around and wire roof. They bathe in the rain. Size? Mine is small, 4 x 8 by 6 high. Just an add on for winter. Will remove in Spring as all birds have raced here. Other loft has a wire dog kennel. Sitting on the landing board. Another loft 2 feet by 8 landing boards, dowel top. Just to get fresh air and rain water on hem. |

| yes, I know what your saying about the wire roof hal, the rain and direct sun would be nice for them.....but like you say, if you have a wire roof, you need a wire floor, or the rain on droppings would be nasty |

That's a grand job, built to last well done winning prizemoney and getting it made. I'm learning how to weld aluminium at the minute, it's not going very well though. Be a while before I can make something like that for David???? |
