| Just a few thoughts. Late at night no one on due to time difference. Had a visit from a guy today. He gets my year end birds I no longer need. He and his father spent many thousand of dollars on birds from Europe. Basically Aardens. The father is German. The son has also German values also. Strict. The expectations were high for those imports. Now some did good, the young off the imports, but not world beaters. They eventually were crossed etc,. They had assumed, as many do, strain named pigeons are the ultimate. Road to success. The culls he got from me crossed, beat the Aardens and some other imports they have.. One buys the best pigeons they can for what they can afford and hope. I honestly believe that most fancier have some excellent pigeons. No matter the strain name. Maybe only a few good ones but there is the basis to get better. Performance counts. However it is up to the fancier to select the birds and cull the rest. Numbers are not important. Only one wins. Many fanciers keep birds to race to give them another chance. I am guilty of that!! Why do not I follow my own advice? Umm pig headed Limey! |

| I understand that David. I seldom talk with them anyway. However, if not giving them away, the culls, would have to kill them. As I said, I race against these guys in the Fed, not the club. When I flew in their club after moving down here they laughed at me. Why? I was flying to the nest, everyone else on widowhood or double widow hood. After placing first a few times, sometimes 10 in the top 20, they shut up. They eventually disbanded the club and went to fly with the London Club. They are 20 miles South of the club. Good location. My location for my Club is basically in a straight line. However, I am 40 miles longer. Now, not much between the club and me but open fields. Shores of Lake Erie. The birds have to come through the regular towns etc with some cover, then the last 40 miles the headwinds pickup. Always windy here. Why there are 6 turbines on the property. I am not complaining. Have to live with the location and conditions. It is nice to beat them though!! |
