Clean out time. Not that much on the floors. Straw plus shavings not deep at all. As you may have noticed, some older lofts are crappy. Slated for demolition after this season. Couple I have to use straw or shavings in. Plugs up the holes in the floors. Keep them up for now for the space they provide for the pigeons. Solid floors will use sand. Never tried it. Option one is to go to the beach and fill a few bags. Free. But maybe with nasties? Option 2 is to buy it. Option 2 less work! Probably last year for me club racing. Have to wait and see but if I go to one lofters or Specials next year I need to send the best I can breed. Hence the great push to fly them every week. Survival of the fittest. Hopefully like will breed like. Usually does to a certain degree. Weather here is depressing. Cloudy and cold. Affects me as much as the pigeons. But seen a few tulips sprouting today. Through the snow! Wonderful!

Beach sand was all I used as a young kid Hal here. 50 yards & I had an unlimited supply along with grit. True story now when I first joined the senior club here after being in the junior club etc I got 3rd fed from 250 odd miles in a large convoy, which was the best fed position ever taken in the club at the time there. All done on beach sand & grit would you believe & biscuit tins also for breeding boxes . *****

Dont talk chocolates to me FW human or pigeon types etc the Arden types may have been utter crap here but those Mueleman chocolates were just as bad unfortunately .
