| Yesterday we had someone on the phone saying they were from British Telecom and telling me we were about to have our Internet cut off within the next hour and it would not be put back on for FOUR Months.
This conversation went on for 28 minutes. Everything they said sounded plausible but the guy would not answer any of my questions like 'why did you not contact me before today' and 'what would you have done if I was out?' and 'if you did contact me, what email address did you use'?
In the end, I told the guy that he MUST NOT disconnect our Internet until I had a chance to speak to EE, our service provider, and the police.
Guess what - the line went dead.
THIS IS A WORD OF WARNING TO YOU ALL.
Immediately after the call, we rang our service provider and they assured us it was a SCAM/phishing call.

| this type of thing has been going on for a long time, we get calls from these people claiming to be Microsoft, or our service provider.......they say there is a security risk or some other story, all designed to take remote control of your computer, then they have all your personal details.
Microsoft or any of these type of companies will never phone you up, always be aware.........if its someone who phones who you don't know, and they are offering you something, or wanting your name, address etc, tell them to p*ss off, and put the phone down. |

| I once had an e mail from Africa saying the person sending it knew I was a good Christian and I had been chosen to look after a trust fund of over a million pound for a charity in OUR COUNTRY'
All I had to do to have the funds put into my account was to send a transfer fee of £250.00 and my bank account details.
I told him to deduct the £250.00 from the million and send a cheque for the remainder to a false address.
If it looks too good to be true or unusual it is best to ignore it and keep those responsible engaged as long as possible and waste their time and money.
Regards. |
