Disaster for me! 205 miles. First bird 8 hours plus. 4 home by night fall. Cloudy, humid, light showers. Fog rolling in off the lake. More back thru fog this morning. 5 missing. They will be good for 315 in two weeks. North clubs got decent times. Oh well.

Does not matter. The good ones will come through. Yearlings next week. 255 miles. 2nd race. Thinking here is this. Old or yearlings or whatever is in shape go to the 315 week after. Also will start training some young birds. Start them at 20 mile point and go from there. Should be able to race some in old bird races. Did it before in another club. Probably a 250 miler. Have to check the Fed. If they are not allowed for competition will send any way for my own satisfaction. Worked for me years ago. Never won with them but they were in the top ten often enough. Same Fed and clocked them. Will see. Checked the Fed. No mention, old or young. 320 in two weeks the 400 milers. What I am aiming for.

Another crap race here for us..be lucky to be 5th club which with 30 away is absolutely shocking..far to hot for the birds in my opinion. I think about 8 to 10 missing for us..pleased I have a A team still

Advantages of large teams. Always some for next week. 20 out of 21 from last week. Yearlings go this week. 2nd race. Young bird sickness. Never had it for many years, probably would not recognise it now. But sad to lose birds like that. Question being debated in the club. Who has the advantage from a fast race? Short or long end fliers? Same for a slow race. Who is favoured? 40 plus mile over fly.

was reading our fed results last week, none of our club members were in the top 40 places, maybe partly because we have just joined this fed, and its the first year of racing on this route........ maybe some of the fed members on the sheet sending 68, 58, 50 etc birds wont help either........

| The fact is that there is no two races are alike, the weather can change within a couple of miles.
At the moment we have sea fret, a couple of miles down the road it is bright sunshine and there are numerous such possibilities just regarding the weather.
One would have thought that taking everything into consideration on a fast day it would suit the longest flyer, the birds having over come all the initial problems together and the extra miles would be a doddle.
On a bad day the birds would be more tired and not as advantaged as those already in their loft having to face possible several unexpected problems not met by the former.
But taking everything into consideration you cannot ever compare the performances of pigeons flying considerably different distances.
You can attempt to but without all the different relative information which can never be available ?????.
Regards.

no brainer here with the sprint races, back lofts have advantage, very rare we get east winds but have had them last few weeks and our club gets to show on the fed because of it,
