How is your breeding going

Just wondered how the breeding season is going and how many you have parted off I haven't paired mine yet will probably put them together mid February or march just one round for me

hi mark, ive 11 ybs in the nest, 7 rung and the other 4 maybe tomorrow or Saturday......

Just let my first round out yesterday here for the first time etc Mark 6o odd normal panic type moments here thou I'm     which many would understand I suspect . Nightfall time the panic thing was for nothing     nearly      as the body count told me there may be 2 sleeping out some where over night maybe .

Paired my five pairs on Saturday.

I wish I only had 5 pairs steve, life would be a lot easier.........

Basically a disaster for me. Banded 9 first week of January. 2 died of cold not being covered at 14 days, time hen is laying again. Banded two more. Week later. Two came out of the boxes and hit the floor then huddled with a pair floor nesting.in shavings. Looking for heat. 1 died by being smothered in the corner as 6 were there. 1 young dropped from top box to floor. 6 feet. Hurt leg so assume dead tomorrow. Quite a few years since this cold. Never had these problems before. No matter, no more Winter breeding for me. Will wean this weekend as weather warms.

worst year yet, all sorts problems, too many young cocks/hens, fighting leaving eggs, hen went lame had to float chicks, one cock not putting a shift in leavinghen to do feeding...…………. mostly settling down now but has been poor pairing this year

Much of the time I suspect Rog never quite turns out unfortunately like the good book say's is so I suggest . Even I here truth be told, could have had 1/2 more in my first round etc .

Think some problems may be breeding at the wrong time of year according to nature.

Years ago very few bred as early as now.

Homones and all that.

With complete open loft very few bred out of natural season.


Perhaps results get better after those bred early themselves start breeding.

But just hope those that survive are the best.

Taking a certain amount of liberty there I suggest Misty maybe. Don't you remember our Ray showing us all here his first round that he had there . Suspect he hasn't quite finished counting them all yet & so a final count may be some way off with him still breeding I believe for his final tally of birds as such.

That is why I asked, Knackered, I tried and tried to count his first round but kept loosing count.

Had the same issue/problem sadly just to many blue bars I found to come up with an accurate tally at the end day there. Still our Ray is a Geordie as such so one must make certain allowances I suspect for him Misty, maybe .
