| I personally would switch eggs. If you have had them that long must be for a good reason. Have a 10 year old hen here mated to an 8 year old cock. Banded 2 will wean in a week. Next eggs will float after 14 days or so sitting. Keeps them calm and fit. |

| Personally I would single rear Darren, and as you say he’s still a good feeder, 1 youngen won’t put him under too much stress. |

| Run the eggs, give the old boy a rest, he has obviously earned one, let him rear one egg that you do not want.
Regards. |

| I would let him feed one yb myself but when it's warmer because I think it's harder for older birds in this cold weather |

| If he can still get on to tried his hen then I would let him rear them with his hen if he is a good one have as many out of him as you can these old birds will stop filling if you stop them from breeding even in the closed season keep him with his hen sitting or you will loose him |

| I think we all have a favorite pigeon with a bit of nostalgia attached.
Mine was a little dark hen.
Came home from school one day, throwing it down with rain, saw a pigeon on the upstairs window ledge.
Why it did not go in the loft I do not know.
I went upstairs and lifted the widow the type mothers used to pull down sit on the sill and clean the window.
I picked the pigeon up which was a dark check hen.
She was wet through, put her in the loft and fed her, should have reported her but felt certain attachment.
Can shut my eyes and think about her and feel every bone in her body and see her nut brown eyes, and yes grown men do cry.
Shortly after I went into partnership with an older fancier and moved the pigeons to another site.
The little hen would not settle, she started living in the outside toilet, she followed me to school and some days would be waiting for when I came out, the school was only a couple of hundred yards down the road.
After 5 years in the partnership I had to decide, pit or the army, two years down the pit and chose the army.
The my little friend was then 8 years old, I told my mam to just see she had food and water.
Being abroad for almost all the time in the army I never got to see her much.
I was in the army for three and a half years and when I came out she was not there.
Miss her to this day.
Regards.
