Daz - I may well have a couple of stock birds that have amazing pedigrees, that will have to go very soon. I don't mind giving good birds away, as long as we get a couple of bob for the grandchildren out of the deal. I much prefer to give birds to deserving people, than let some big shot with bags of money buy them up. My philosophy is 'What goes around, comes around'. If good vibes go out, you will get good things coming back. But I won't be 'giving away' any of our young birds from this year's rounds, not after shelling out all our hard earned cash. I have already been offered £400.00 for some 2nd or 3rd rounders from our new birds. But I declined their offer. Having said all that - at the end of the day - who knows, just because pigeons cost lots, doesn't mean they are going to breed amazing young birds. We all know stories about birds that were given away, that turned into Fed toppers. Phil |

| '...…Having said all that - at the end of the day - who knows, just because pigeons cost lots, doesn't mean they are going to breed amazing young birds. We all know stories about birds that were given away, that turned into Fed toppers. Very true Phil. I believe that nigh all lofts have had very good to great pigeons go through their' hands. They just didn't, couldn't realise. Personally I think it is 70 - 80 percent the management. I love grizzles and reds / Red Grizzle for sure. Had a job to hold them But then never had many. But in percentages of winners I guess that they would hold their own Any way I thought about it and said on sites 'If any one has a Grizzle, red or Red grizzle stray that the owner doesn't want, ask if I could have it transferred to me'! Thought 6 pairs kept seperate wouls survice to be tested etc. Never got a glimpse of an interest' Had, rather surprising, really many offers of 'Well Bred' and off good proven pigeons youngsters from members of the site(s) I was on. This of course would have defeated the object that I wanted to see about... that very many Good strays / birds on churches could and would have good to great results. Not least because they would be out crossed naturally - I never ever had close related breedings. So I would have colours pleasing to the niebours. AND me. And a good interest in the expereiment . |
