| the pigeons. Every day I see some around. A beautiful red chequer and a favourite chequer pied cock birds. A couple a neighbour's feed them. there was a time went the old cinema housed 100's. When pulled down they nested all along my road in the Eves and window lefdgers even. Still some crackers to look at.
I have, as you all must have seen some beautiful pigeons walking the streets. Indeed the Scraggly, unkept ruffians seen a lot fewer now. Being replaced by a better looker I believe. |

| Know how you feel, Daz, feel exactly the same when I see the townies etc;
If I ever feel up to it I may just have half a dozen for fun.
Still got the loft, only inhabited by three rabbits , so plenty of room, do not think you ever get over missing them.
Regards.

| Combination. One complements the other. One puts in what the other lacks. |

| Thought about it, David, obviously some townies will have winning genes, my late friend Steve Spinks wrote in the BHW that I was going to try doing so in a separate small loft but never got off the ground, he was also a friend of Bert Hessian..
I also toyed with the idea of letting wood pigeons bring up a pair or two of racers eggs, ring the young and use them to improve the immunity.
Then I had a disturbing altercation with the idiots running our affairs which took over my life and which I have tried to rectify ever since.
Regards. |

Yes a fellow called Wills. Lived in the oval Kettering. worked on the gas board. His work mate, Dick Oakley, was a pigeon fancier. Wills wife was against him having pigeons etc. Money was put forward as an excuse. So he joined Kettering Pigeon club, they rung any Black squabs and tied them to the nests. An old shed was converter in the garden. It was nice and dark... and open door. First season he did more than ok. Second season he shone the way for them to follow. Raced remarkably for three more season ... then packed up sold them then to a well known pigeon stud. Was thought always as the man to beat. I had a scraggly churcher come in. I fed it and cleaned it up. It stayed. the purpose was to be a look out for hawks or cats etc. Was alays first back in the loft. Used ri train just the three or four toss week before first young bird race. Tossed from 20 to 40 miles tyhree ways. Fourth Skegness about 70 miles the Tuesday before. So i was thinking about 'if it would be able. So sent the churcher too. Can honestly say it was well in front every time. A so called friend came to see me clock in one Saturday. He went and picked this birds out of the loft and said '........' whatever and then nexked it. I nigh necked him... needless to say he never ever ventured near me again. |

Regards. Idiots My bunch of idiots/clowns running the show down here Misty for the likes of me etc I'm & suspect would beat your lot hands down as such I suggest . 12 months ago they had one of those thought bubble moments & decided to divide our main head quarters into 2 factories, so as to use one & then lease the other one out type of thing to have that feel good moment & pat each other on the back for a job well done . Problem is the Fed is on it's knees now in a sad, sad way & they have just arranged, nearly a bank lone of around $150,000, which will take at least 5/10 years to pay off etc before any benefit will flow through to all the members that may be left I suspect. End of the story is on a good day "doesn't happen often" there is 30 odd flyers sitting in a complex nearly as big I'm as the mighty Sunderland's soccer pitch & just down the road in another Fed, there is 50 odd blokes having an absolute ball in a tin shed with virtually no running costs, about the size of David's garage & they think they are a smart lot, my lot doing what they are doing . |

| The trouble with our lot, as long as they are not inconvenienced the are not worried what happens to anyone else.
Just as all the dirty linen is coming out in nearly every aspect of life involving people previously held in high esteem we have very similar people at the head of our sport, in fact some could not be beaten for deplorable behavior, but they have given a pigeon here and a pat on the shoulder, and let someone sit with them and watch the pigeons come back after the loft manager has actually done all the work whilst the owner was hob nobbing it abroad said to be representing the RPRA.
Our sport has been run by a bunch as corrupt as it possibly could be and the self satisfied has allowed it to happen.
Regards. |
