| o/b went out beginning of week (wind or no wind) trying to get ready for april6th so got to get their skates on, y/b don't go out till sparrow hawks buggered off and that will be late april, aviary on front of loft so they see her every morning and hopefully learn! young are strong on wing by then so do my best to keep them down for first week of letting them out, if they go up straight away i'm in the shit because of location, works for me but others not to impressed hey ho |

| 18 cocks out when it dropped untill i let them out.... Drop when they want so done only about 15 mins then up n down a few times. Let some hens out after that much the same. Ybs not over yet still in the weaning pen. I never chase mine up, like them picking about in front of the loft as long as possible. Never lose hardly any this way...apart from this year when after writing that the lot will all strike up first time out never to be seen again. |

| Moot point regarding letting out.
Many fanciers train in all weathers and let them out also.
Young birds a different matter, they have not the strength to return if going beyond their capabilities.
With open loft the young know when to go out and I never worried or had any problems.
The closer kept to nature over a prolonged period I feel helps in all respects.
Regards. |

| Agree regarding letting young birds out in very adverse weather, no point in taking risks, when using the couple of hours morning and same at night etc;
With completely open loft the pigeons know when and how, snow, hail, thunder or anything else they deal with all as nature intended, wild birds have no problems.

| 3 C and sun. Usual wind off the lake. Two lofts of old birds to go out. One yearling loft. They will have access to both lofts. Some settled in the others loft previously. Expect lots of fighting. Well, let it be. Have to look to the future. Where I will spend the rest of my life! |

| All lofts open. Lot of fighting etc,. Hawk attack but missed them. Open lofts tomorrow. Will race what I have left. May 4 first race so basically open loft until then. Too many I assume but will see. All have to go. |
